The 2017 National League Wild Card game is a showdown in the West as the Rockies and Diamondbacks vie for a playoff spot. Here’s what you need to watch the game.
It’s time for the 2017 MLB playoffs and the first stop is the National League Wild Card Game between the Colorado Rockies (87-75) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (93-69) to determine which team will advance to the NL Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers (104-58). For the first time in a long while, the Wild Card Game and Game 1 of the NL Division Series will be a battle between National League West teams and this year it could be any one of these teams that advance to the Championship Series.
The National League Wild Card Game takes place on Wednesday, October 4. The Rockies will face off against the Diamondbacks in Arizona, which will give the Diamondbacks the home field advantage over Colorado. The game starts at 5 pm ET and airs on TBS.

If not for the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers, this would be a match race between the Rockies and Diamondbacks. Both teams enjoyed banner seasons in 2017 under the guidance of new managers. The Rockies’ Bud Black and the Diamondbacks’ Torey Lovullo both came to their teams with mandates to take the talent and do something with it. Reaching the postseason checks off that box, and now the mission is to make it into the NLDS.
Fortunately, both teams are very familiar with the Dodgers and so in either case, the NLDS games against the Dodgers will be like a regular season series. Both the Rockies and the Diamondbacks have enjoyed success against the Dodgers this year, so the door is open for anyone to emerge victoriously.
