By Mike Dyce
Runners will compete in the Chicago marathon on Sunday, and here is how you can watch it all online.
October in Chicago means it’s marathon time. The temperatures are typically cool enough to be comfortable running without overheating. This year, the Marathon is being run for the 40th year.
Chicago is a flat city, and consequently, the marathon is known as a fast course in the absence of elevation changes and climbs. Four world records and several national records been set in Chicago.
Chicago is also a city of 77 neighborhoods, and the marathon will go through 29 of them. The race starts near Millenium Park and the iconic “Bean”. It goes over the Chicago River on Columbus, crosses Michigan Avenue and the Magnificent Mile on Grand before gutting back across the river at State Street. It will cross the main branch of the river four times, where some of the most beautiful bridges are.
The route also cuts up through Old Town and Lincoln Park, before going towards the revived West Loop.
