Andrew Luck out for Sunday, progressing towards return
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is nearing a return to football as he will practice for the first time on Wednesday this week.
Indianapolis Colts fans can start thinking positive now. According to Ian Rapoport, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said that Colts franchise quarterback Andrew Luck will do individual drills on Wednesday and Friday. He did rule Luck out for Sunday, but this is a good sign for Colts fans.
Luck is still recovering from surgery that he had on his shoulder back in January and is progressing slowly. Back in January, Colts owner Jim Irsay said Luck would be ready for the start of the 2017 season, but as we can see that isn’t true.
Luck being out has dealt with a battle for who is the starting quarterback. Week one it was Scott Tolzien, who played horribly against the LA Rams, finishing 9 of 18 for 128 yards and two interceptions.
Luckily for the Colts, they traded for reinforcements a week earlier as they traded for Patriots third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
The trade seems to have been working somewhat well for the Colts as they can’t expect a quarterback to learn a new playbook within a week and turn the franchise around. Brissett is 1-2 in his games under center, going 55/93 for 683 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He can also run with the football if needed, getting 14 carries for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
While Brissett isn’t an all-star quarterback, he has done better than Tolzien and has given the Colts chances to win football games while Luck is out.

Without Luck once again, the Colts will be taking on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Oct 8 as the Colts look to improve to 2-3 with their starting quarterback out.
