Chiefs at Texans: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
By John Buhler
The Houston Texans will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. Here is the game preview, the betting odds and a final prediction.
Sunday Night Football in Week 5 will be an incredible game. It will feature two teams with serious playoff aspirations in the AFC in the Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) and the Houston Texans (2-2). Kickoff from NRG Stadium in Houston will be at 8:30 p.m. ET.
NBC will have the primetime national telecast with Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth in the booth to call the game. The available live streams can be found on NBC Live Extra and on FuboTV.
Kansas City is the last undefeated team in football now that the Atlanta Falcons have suffered their first loss of the season. The Chiefs have wins over the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Washington Redskins. Kansas City has come out swinging in the first quarter of the season. The Chiefs have been the best football team so far in 2017.
Houston is 2-2, but has found its answer at the quarterback position. Rookie signal caller Deshaun Watson has been tremendous the last two weeks for the Texans. Houston destroyed the division rival Tennessee Titans at home in Week 4. This Houston team already has a defense and is playing with great confidence in the last few weeks.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: Houston +1
Moneylines: Kansas City -115, Houston -105
Over/Under: 45
According to SportsBook Review, the Texans will be getting a point at home from the visiting Chiefs. The associated moneylines for this game are Kansas City -115 and Houston +105. This game’s over/under comes in at a combined 45 points.
Though these two teams have great defenses, let’s go with the over in this one, as two mobile quarterbacks in Watson and Alex Smith should be able to put up some points on turf. Both teams will be able to find pay dirt offensively at least three times in this primetime game.
This one will come down to the turnover battle. Houston has shown that it can force turnovers in big spots. Though Smith is extremely careful with the football, look for Kansas City to play tight in another primetime game. Being undefeated will have a negative impact on Kansas City in this game.

Look for the Texans play looser and come out with a huge Week 5 win over the Chiefs. After Sunday night, there will not be any more undefeated teams left in football. Houston covers and improves to 3-2, while the Chiefs fall for the first time this year to 4-1.
Prediction: Texans 31, Chiefs 27
