Things may be a bit awkward for Jacob Eason. Not only has Jake Fromm played well, but Georgia just landed No. 1 2018 QB Justin Fields. Could a transfer be on the horizon? If it is, here are the best options for the former five-star.

Jacob Eason joined the Georgia Bulldogs with plenty of hype and ballyhoo. The former U.S. Army All-American was a five-star recruit and one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in the country. Eason played rather well in his first season with the ‘Dawgs and he led them to a Liberty Bowl victory over the TCU Horned Frogs. The expectation was Eason taking a step forward in 2017 but things don’t always go as planned. In the season opener, Eason hurt himself. From there, Jake Fromm, Eason’s backup, took the job and has since run with it. UGA is unbeaten to this point and ranks 5th in the AP Top 25. On Friday, the awkwardness ramped up a bit. Justin Fields, the best prospect in the 2018 recruiting cycle, committed to Georgia.

Georgia’s quarterback situation is certainly one to watch going forward now. You don’t recruit Fields, who is not only the top quarterback but the top player overall, without having intentions to play him. Fromm’s success under center may make it difficult for head coach Kirby Smart to transition back to Eason. He certainly could, of course. Eason is talented in his own right, and no doubt has the prowess to take command of the Bulldogs offense. But the situation has definitely grown fascinating with him on the sidelines. If this trend continues, it’s possible that the former five-star recruit might look for another place to play. Transferring is not necessarily out of the question, although obviously not confirmed to this point. If he does

But the situation has definitely grown fascinating with him on the sidelines. If this trend continues, it’s possible the former five-star recruit might look for another place to play. Transferring is not necessarily out of the question, although obviously not confirmed to this point. If he does transfer, there will be plenty of places looking to corral him. Five-star QBs don’t just grow on trees.

Here are a few places where Jacob Eason could land if he indeed decides to transfer.

Miami Hurricanes

Of all the places Eason could land, the Miami Hurricanes may make the most logical sense. Why? The head coach. While Mark Richt was still coaching in Athens, he was the one who helped land a commitment from Eason. Despite the fact that UGA moved on from Richt, this factor shouldn’t go unnoticed. A preexisting relationship between Eason and Richt could go a long way toward getting him down in Coral Gables if he hits the transfer market.

The U does have a few QBs coming down the pipe, which may make things a bit tougher for Eason. N’Kosi Perry, a four-star freshman QB currently on the roster, is one of them who might challenge down the road. Additionally, Artur Sitkowski is coming in 2018. The four-star from IMG Academy is a Top 5 QB in the nation in the 2018 recruiting cycle.

Still, Eason’s talent and ability might be enough for him to make something happen down at The U if he hits the market. The already established connection may make it easy for Miami to be the trendy pick for him if he leaves UGA. With plenty of talent coming down the pipe thanks to stout recruiting by Mark Richt, Eason certainly wouldn’t be uncomfortable under center.
