Vegas Golden Knights will wear a #VegasStrong sticker on their helmets
The Vegas Golden Knights will show solidarity with victims with a #VegasStrong sticker.
Oct. 1 will forever mark a day of sorrow in America. That Sunday night was when a man took the lives of over 50 people. The city of Vegas is still reeling from the tragedy. The Vegas Golden Knights have been doing whatever they can to stand in unity with the city and the victims.
The Golden Knights deeply care about the city. They’ve gone door-to-door to deliver jerseys to season ticket holders. Nate Schmidt, a defenceman for the team, penned a great piece about the character of the city that the team discovered when going out into the community after the shooting.
The team is taking another step to show solidarity. Vegas will be wearing a #VegasStrong sticker on their helmets for their first game on Oct. 6.
The Golden Knights won’t be the only team wearing the patch, though. Their opponents, the Dallas Stars, have also decided to wear the sticker tonight as a sign of the unity in the NHL.
The shooting falls among other disasters across the United States, but these are just signs that people stand together when it really matters. Not only have these two teams stepped up to show some support for those affected by the tragedy, teams across the NHL have as well.
In addition to the NHL stepping up and showing support, the AHL has as well. The Chicago Wolves, the Golden Knights’ minor league affiliate, and the Foley Family Charitable Foundation gave $200,000 to support the victims. This, combined with donations from the NHL and the Golden Knights, drives the total given to $500,000.

The NHL and teams across the nation have taken up the banner for Vegas. The helmet stickers are just a single way teams and the league have shown solidarity, but don’t expect it to quit anytime soon. The Golden Knights love Vegas and they will continue to be #VegasStrong.
