WWE Hell in a Cell 2017: 1 bold prediction for each match
The Hell in a Cell 2017 pay-per-view is almost here. How can WWE make each match interesting?
On Sunday night, the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view will take place. The Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI will host this SmackDown Live-exclusive event, the brand’s first since August’s SummerSlam.
Hell in a Cell will be headlined by two matches of the same name. The first has New Day vs. The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, while Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon go head-to-head but with the Falls Count Anywhere stipulation.
Outside of this, Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship and Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship highlights this show. Seven matches make up the card.
Sometimes, WWE will go in alternate directions with their PPV matches or throw in an extra wrinkle to make a superstar stand out. It happens at almost every big show and should be expected to occur, again, at Hell in a Cell. So let’s see what “bold” moves might happen in every match at Sunday’s show.
Randy Orton defeats Rusev with three RKOs
The brief history of the Rusev vs. Randy Orton rivalry has not been anything noteworthy. Orton decimated the Bulgarian Brute at SummerSlam in a 10-second match which featured just one RKO and a pinfall. The tables turned in their rematch, but Rusev did not win clean.
Hell in a Cell represents the rubber match between these two, likely meaning their program is over after Sunday (unless WWE decides to push it forward, a la Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt). If it is the end, then look for Orton to win. He is still WWE’s go-to superstar, even after 15 years in the business. More value is in him winning than Rusev, whose positioning has been shaky in 2017.
When the Viper wins, it is usually in dominant fashion. His SummerSlam victory is one instance, along with a nine-minute win over Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33. Look for something similar at Hell in a Cell, with him getting three RKOs on the fallen and destroyed former U.S. champion.
While it makes more sense to give the weakened WWE star the victory, Orton is still a top face on SmackDown Live and is needed. The show lost star power throughout 2017 and requires talent like the Apex Predator to stay and remain strong. So look for him to stand tall at Hell in a Cell, and look dominant in the process.
