With the big boys finishing up their games on Saturday, we take a look at a new top-four heading into Week 7 of the college football season.
The college football season was treated to their biggest upset on Saturday, as Iowa State went into No. 3 Oklahoma and beat the Sooners with a third-string quarterback. While the Sooners’ season is not over by any means, it does make it harder for them to get into the College Football Playoff. Iowa State was incredible all game long, and now Oklahoma is going to have to win out if they hope to crack the top-four.
Top-ranked Alabama pulled out a close road victory over Texas A&M on Saturday night, running their record to 6-0. There is really no team on their schedule who can touch them, so their perfect run may be threatened only when they get to the SEC Championship Game. In that game, they are likely to run into the Georgia Bulldogs, which looks like one of the best teams in America.
Clemson got a scare this past weekend, as quarterback Kelly Bryant was forced to leave the game with an injured left ankle. They were able to get past Wake Forest without him, and they will likely be fine if he has to sit out Friday’s game against Syracuse. Penn State rolled over Northwestern on the road, and will now get a bye before starting a tough two-game stretch on October 21.
That stretch includes a home game against Michigan, followed by an away game against Ohio State. Winning those two games will make them a favorite to get to the College Football Playoff, even if they do suffer a loss in the Big Ten title game. With all that being said, let’s take a look at who our projected top-four is after Week 6.
