Gal Gadot burst on to the scene in Wonder Woman earlier this year, on Saturday (Oct. 7) she will play host on Saturday Night Live
Wonder Woman was one of the best received movies of the summer, and arguably one of the best superhero movies of all time. It was also notable because it was the first (and so far only) such movie to both star and be directed by a woman.
In the promo released for Gadot’s episode, you can see that the team at SNL took this idea and ran with it. The promo features Gadot making her grand entrance into the building (presumably where Saturday Night Live will be held) not through the door, but through the wall. This is both a reference to her Wonder Woman character and a rather tongue-in-cheek nod to the groundbreaking idea that a female-led superhero movie is untenable.
The positive reception for Wonder Woman, both critically and commercially, has made its star, Gal Gadot, much more recognizable. Gadot, an Israeli born actress, has appeared in similar movies for a few years prior to her breakout this summer. Her Wonder Woman was first featured in Batman v. Superman last year, and she also starred in the Fast and Furious franchise.
It will be interesting to see how much of the Wonder Woman character bleeds through into Gadot’s hosting performance. Especially seeing as the character will also be appearing in the upcoming Justice League film, in theaters November 17th.

The featured musical guest for this episode will be Sam Smith. Smith first appeared on the show in April of 2014 to promote his debut album. His newest single dropped on this week. It will be followed by a full album on Nov. 3, so presumably he will be performing and promoting that music on the show.
You can watch Saturday Night Live Oct. 7 at 11:30pm ET on NBC.
