New overview trailer for Super Mario Odyssey

A new Super Mario Odyssey trailer overviews the entire game and what we, the players, could expect. If we’re being honest, it may be the best game of the year.

So far, 2017 has been a fantastic year for games. We won’t say the last couple of months have been that great for the gaming industry, especially when you look at the beginning of the year. But, there’s still a few months left and plenty of games to look forward too. One of those is Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey, which only impresses us more and more with each new gameplay trailer. The newest one gives us possibly the best look yet at a little bit of everything it’ll offer.

From what we know already, Mario will finally be leaving the Mushroom Kingdom to venture off into new areas. This is a first in the series and it’s very exciting that we’ll be able to see some new locations. For example, there’s New Donk City, which looks full of life. However, this is one of the many areas we’ll be able to play in.

By far, the most interesting feature is Cappy, which will be Mario’s trusty companion and sentient hat. In similar fashion, we can definitely see Super Mario Sunshine’s hand in Odyssey. Cappy is very similar to F.L.U.D.D., which was also Mario’s companion and a sentient water jet. Not only will Cappy be able to advise us through the game, but it’ll be incredibly useful. Cappy has the ability to take over objects and as the player, we’ll be able to control that object. Whether it’s a street light to an actual T-Rex, anything is possible.

Odyssey is shaping up to be one of the most innovative Mario games yet. Nintendo continues to raise the bar and we can’t wait to try it out for ourselves on Oct. 27.
