Taking a look at the latest college football rankings after a weekend of big upsets as the Week 7 AP Poll is laid down upon us.
It was a week of upsets in the college football world. We thought that seeing the USC Trojans lose to the Washington State Cougars a week ago would be one of the bigger defeats of the year, but we were all kidding ourselves as the sixth week of the season had far more to offer in that regard. To put it simply, the Week 7 AP Poll was put into shambles in a big way with what happened.
Things began with a little bit of craziness before the weekend arrived. The Louisville Cardinals were defeated by the NC State Wolfpack. Though not a massive upset, it was the precursor for what was to come. And what was to come was two of the biggest upsets that we’re sure to see for the entirety of the 2017 season.
First up was the Oklahoma Sooners. Coming off an open week, they were in Big 12 action against the Iowa State Cyclones, one of the worst teams in the conference. No one told the Cyclones about that, however. Though Baker Mayfield played quite well, his defense did not. Thus, his efforts weren’t enough as the Sooners suffered their first loss of the season.
In terms of massive other defeats, the Michigan Wolverines lost their rivalry game to the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday night. With John O’Korn filling in for Wilton Speight, the offense was anemic. When you then threw in the rain pouring down, it was an ugly affair as they fell to Sparty.
So after all of this, what does the college football Week 7 AP Poll look like? Let’s have a look:
