After two weeks of upsets, Week 5 featured a handful of nail-biting finishes that all football fans found themselves invested in.
The last two weeks of the NFL season saw a slew of upsets and blowouts that threw things out of whack. Those games are fun to watch for shock value, but thereās no universal investment by people who just like football.
Week 5 delivered in ways we couldnāt even have imagined.
Starting on Thursday and extending through the late games on Sunday afternoon, there were more than a few games that came down to the final play of the game.
Itās not a question of how many close games there were, itās which one was the most nerve-racking to watch?
For the second straight week, the 49ers were in a game that needed overtime to decide the outcome. Also for a second consecutive week, they couldnāt pull out the win. This was the second time this year the Colts needed extra football to win, so if nothing else, these teams are at least entertaining to the end.
Some of the entertainment value came from how comical the events of overtime were. Jacoby Brissett threw a critical interception while the Colts were driving for a game-winning score in OT, but the 49ers failed to do anything with it. San Francisco used a last-minute drive to force overtime with a buzzer-beating touchdown pass, which suggests yet again that Kyle Shanahanās team might be better than its 0-5 record suggests.
This could be interpreted as two bad teams needing almost all of the overtime period to determine a winner, but that would be to overlook how fun this game was to watch right to the very end.
