Alabama didn’t play their best against Texas A&M on Saturday, and Nick Saban wants the media to get the hell out of their heads.

No, the Alabama Crimson Tide wasn’t one of the top teams that suffered an upset on Saturday, as they were able to defeat the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday night on the road in College Station. However, that looked far from their usual, walking death-like selves, as they only came away with the 27-19 victory. Many expected another SEC blowout, much like Alabama did to Ole Miss last week, but that just wasn’t the case.

So, why did Alabama play so poorly on Saturday against a Texas A&M team that has struggled many times this season? Well, Nick Saban has a theory about that.

During his press conference following the win, we were treated to the latest edition of Nick Saban vs. the media. Talking about the game, Saban railed on the media, telling that he wants them to stop filling his players’ heads with these thoughts that they’re invincible. Or, as he put it, he wants the media to stop feeding his team rat poison.

Even though I make a living in college football media, it will never not amaze me how much disdain Saban has for reporters. He just hates them with such a passion, and he is never afraid to call them out on anything, whenever he wants.

Now the question is: does he have a point? Well, to a certain extent, he might. With the way they’ve performed this season, just throttling opponents, the media has once again put them on the highest pedestal above everyone else, even the Clemson Tigers. We forget a lot of times that these are just college kids, so yeah, it’s easy for them to buy into their own hype and have an off day like they did on Saturday against the Aggies.

But then again, it’s sort of on him and his staff to make sure that this team doesn’t buy into what anyone says outside of their locker room. So you can argue this either way, I suppose.

Whatever the case, it’s still always entertaining to see Saban go off like this when he should be celebrating a win.
