NFL Draft Order 2018: Who picks where after NFL Week 5?
After five weeks of the season, the 2018 NFL Draft order is starting to take shape.
Aside from a Monday night divisional matchup between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, Week 5 of the 2017 NFL season is in the books. With that being the case, the 2018 NFL Draft order is becoming more clear. A lot will undoubtedly change between now and the end of the season, but we are starting to see the likely teams who will be picking at the top and the legitimate contenders.
If you happen to be a fan of a less than competitive NFL organization, we have you covered. Here is the updated 2018 NFL Draft order following the Sunday slate of Week 5 games.
1. New York Giants (0-5)
2. Cleveland Browns (0-5)
3. San Francisco 49ers (0-5)
4. Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)
5. Chicago Bears (1-3)*
6. Indianapolis Colts (2-3)
7. Arizona Cardinals (2-3)
8. Cincinnati Bengals (2-3)
9. Dallas Cowboys (2-3)
10. Tennessee Titans (2-3)
The Giants fell to the Chargers in a battle between two 0-4 on Sunday afternoon. With Odell Beckham Jr. suffering a major injury that could hold him out for the entire season, the Giants may not get a victory anytime soon. Without Beckham, the Giants’ offense is pretty much a joke. Expect them to pick towards the very top of the 2018 NFL Draft when it is all said and done.
There are certainly some surprises here at the top, with the Giants being probably the most notable. However, I would no expect teams like the Cowboys and Titans to be selecting in the top ten for much longer.
11. Oakland Raiders (2-3)
12. Cleveland Browns via Houston Texans (2-3)
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2)
14. Miami Dolphins (2-2)
15. Minnesota Vikings (2-2)*
16. New Orleans Saints (2-2)
17. Washington Redskins (2-2)
18. Los Angeles Rams (3-2)
19. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)
20. New York Jets (3-2)
A pretty interesting middle of the pack here. The Oakland Raiders currently holding the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft is certainly a surprise. The Raiders were expected to be major competitors in the AFC this season, but a 2-3 start is not ideal. However, with quarterback Derek Carr expected to be back from injury soon, the Raiders will likely turn it around quickly.
Besides the Raiders at 11 and the 3-2 Jets at 20, this middle tier of teams is about as expected.
21. Baltimore Ravens (3-2)
22. Seattle Seahawks (3-2)
23. Detroit Lions (3-2)
24. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2)
25. Buffalo Bills (3-2)
How weird is it to see the Jaguars picking so late? Jacksonville has seemingly always held a top ten pick, but a 3-2 start this season has them in serious playoff contention. There is a lot of talent in this group of five and there may be a couple of surprise Super Bowl contenders.
26. New England Patriots (3-2)
27. Denver Broncos (3-1)
28. Atlanta Falcons (3-1)
29. Philadelphia Eagles (4-1)
30. Carolina Panthers (4-1)
31. Green Bay Packers (4-1)
32. Buffalo Bills via Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)
