It’s already Week 6 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are the four teams that will be on their bye weeks in Week 6. Which of these teams needed a bye the most?
The NFL season is in full swing. Now that we are in the middle of October, teams will begin going on their byes. We had two teams go on the rare Week 1 bye thanks to Hurricane Irma in the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their game was rescheduled for Week 11 in Miami Gardens, as they will be asked to play 16 games straight with no break.
In what should have been the first round of byes, four teams didn’t play in Week 5. Those teams were the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos, the New Orleans Saints and the Washington Redskins. Which teams will be on their byes in Week 6? Who honestly needs a bye week the most of those teams?
The four teams that will be on their byes in Week 6 are the Buffalo Bills, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. Buffalo is 3-2, Cincinnati is 2-3, Dallas is 2-3 and Seattle is 3-2 on the season.
Buffalo is coming off a Week 5 loss to the Bengals. The Bills have wins over the New York Jets, the Broncos and the Falcons. They have losses to the Carolina Panthers and the Bengals. Buffalo could use a bye, but that might take some momentum out of their young season, especially coming off a loss in the Queen City.
Cincinnati just beat the Bills at home in Week 5. The Bengals have back-to-back wins on the year with their first win of the year coming versus the division rival Cleveland Browns. Cincinnati had lost its first three games of the season to the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans and the Green Bay Packers. The Bengals are playing better, so this isn’t the best time for a bye.
Dallas has dropped two games in a row versus the Los Angeles Rams and the Packers. The Cowboys also lost their Week 2 game versus the Broncos. Dallas’ two wins are to the winless New York Giants and not a great Arizona Cardinals team. This team is definitely in need of a bye. Dallas needs to regroup.

Seattle has won two games in a row. The Seahawks beat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4 and the division rival Rams in Week 5. Before that, Seattle went 1-2 with a win over the winless San Francisco 49ers, but losses to the Packers and the Tennessee Titans. Seattle has momentum and probably doesn’t want a bye right now, but will have to make do with one in Week 6.
