There was drama and intrigue aplenty in the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer, but plenty of people just wanted to take advantage of the creature flying with Chewie in the Millennium Falcon.
Is Rey going to turn to the dark side? Has Luke Skywalker lost his nerve? What about that awesome looking clash between Finn and Captain Phasma? Important questions all, but they all pale in comparison to the true star of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer, the Porg.
Even if you don’t know what he/she/it is called, you saw and heard the Porg during the trailer. At the 1:33 mark, specifically, you’ll see the sea bird from the planet Ahch-To (seriously, we looked it up on Wookiepedia). Chewie is no dummy and obviously likes cute aliens, so why not have one as a co-pilot on the Falcon/
It took the internet exactly zero time to pick up on the Porg and start utilizing it for meme purposes.

You get the idea. The Porg is versatile, and his reaction can be used as one of surprise, delight, terror or pretty much anything you need it to be for meme purposes.
And this is really just the tip of the iceberg. The Porgs are about to make it even bigger when the second wave meme-makers get a hold of them. Consider this:
For all you fans who somehow didn’t like the Porgs, we’re sorry to report that you’re just going to have to deal until the coming tide of memes runs its course. Just don’t be surprised if that takes a while.
