Texas Tech’s offense unleashed against a weak Kansas team, 65-19. It featured over 600 yards of offense, with quarterback Nic Shimonek throwing for over 200 yards and the running game topping 300. This lopsided matchup brought the Red Raiders to 4-1 and, so far, it doesn’t look like they’re in for the annual midseason rise.

Week 7 won’t be an easy matchup for Texas Tech, however, as they face West Virginia on the road. This will be a hungry Mountaineer team that looks for a win, after falling by one touchdown to TCU. Expect a lot of points, here, and a game that may shape the top of the conference.

For the first time in the 2017 college football season, Oklahoma no longer holds the No. 1 spot in the Big 12 power rankings. Two weeks after a shockingly close game against Baylor, the Sooners fell to Iowa State, 38-31. There wasn’t a comeback in store, this time, which brought them to 4-1 and impacted their College Football Playoff hopes.

The offense was still strong for Oklahoma, including a solid game from Baker Mayfield. However, surprising play from Iowa State’s backup quarterback led the way and proved to be the difference.

The Red River Rivalry Game is next for OU. Texas looks improved, based on recent seasons, so this could be a tough rebound game for the team from Norman, OK.
