Georgia lands No. 1 recruit Justin Fields
Justin Fields was once committed to Penn State and then reopened his recruitment, becoming the hottest quarterback commodity on the 2018 market. The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, a dual-threat quarterback from Kennesaw, Ga., grew closer to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Just last week, he decided to confirm his commitment to staying close to home and he pledged to the Bulldogs, potentially pushing Jacob Eason out. Georgia beat out about 40 other schools for Fields.
Florida State picks up big cornerback
The Seminoles may not be having the best season on the field, but in the recruiting landscape, they jumped into the 247Sports‘ top 10 after landing Houston Griffith, a four-star cornerback from nearby IMG Academy. Houston, the son of Howard Griffith, picked the Seminoles over his dad’s alma mater, Illinois, and nearly 40 other schools. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound cornerback is an Under Armour All-American and ranked No. 61 in the country.

Oregon lands future star under center
Willie Taggart has been a heck of a recruiter since joining the Oregon football program and he just landed a future star under center in four-star pro-style quarterback Tyler Shough. The 6-foot-4.5, 187-pound quarterback chose the Ducks over the likes of Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Louisville and North Carolina. Could he be the replacement for Justin Herbert when he graduates and moves on to the NFL? He’s ranked in the top 100 in the country.
