2. Bryce Love, RB, Stanford

There’s a good chance that you might be having an alright season when your worst game of the year includes rushing for over 150 yards and a touchdown against a then-undefeated and ranked in-conference opponent. Thus, it feels pretty safe to say that Bryce Love is enjoying one hell of a year for the Stanford Cardinal, because that was the case this past week in their matchup with the Utah Utes.

It’s truly eye-popping to see the numbers that Love has been able to produce this season on a number of levels. The fact that he has 1,240 rushing yards on only 118 carries is staggering. And while his nine touchdowns are less so, it’s still a nice mark to average well over a touchdown per game. But maybe the most incredible thing that Love has done is his produce massive runs consistently. In each of Stanford’s six games this season, Love has a rush of over 50 yards and a rush of over 60 yards in five of them. Talk about putting together a Heisman highlight-reel.

Frankly, it would be absurd for Love to keep this type of production up as conference play is kicking into even fuller gear for the Cardinal. Having said that, nothing’s stopped him yet. And despite the two-loss record for Stanford, he’s been electric and productive enough that he could supplant the No. 1 guy should he keep this type of play up.
