Kelly Bryant suffered an ankle injury in Saturday’s matchup against Wake Forest. Clemson wound up getting the win, their 11th straight, but doubt certainly began creeping in. The Tigers’ backup options did their part in relief. However, a prolonged absence for Bryant would have certainly jeopardized their title chances. Luckily, Tiger fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Clemson signal caller is good to go for their matchup against the Syracuse Orange on Friday.

Bryant under center gives Clemson a very good chance to win. The Tigers sprinted out to a 6-0 start with him in the lineup. Their passing offense has been good enough to get by. He’s no Deshaun Watson, but nobody is, of course. And Bryant has been sharp and effective so far. He has completed 67.3 percent of his passes, thrown for over 1,200 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
Syracuse’s defense has been effective enough this season. It may have been difficult for anyone who wasn’t Bryant to figure out the Orange defense. They certainly wouldn’t have been very rich with experience, if anything. Considering the game is being played up at the Carrier Dome in upstate New York, the game might have been ripe for wackiness.

Now, with the starter under center, Clemson will likely go in the game with less fear of a slip-up. More importantly, Kelly’s health has improved enough for him to give it a whirl. Therefore, the Tigers should still be favored to win the game and extend their winning streak. With the rest of the country awaiting the prospect of Clemson-Alabama III, no wrench will come because of injury. At least not yet.
