NFL Draft 2018: Updated ranking of the top 32 draft prospects entering Week 7
Midway through the 2017 college football season, the best prospects have emerged as they aim to raise their 2018 NFL Draft stock.
As we enter Week 7 of the college football season, some teams are already going bowling while others are looking for an end to their slides. Nonetheless, the best football players in college football have stood out. It’s always NFL Draft season and the time to raise stock is as important now as it will at the end of the year.
There were some huge moments in college football over the weekend, including a massive upset in the Big 12. All of those moments reflect on the tape and that’s where the top prospects have their chance to shine.
Fortunately, there is plenty of time left in the year to put together good tape and of course the lead-up to the actual NFL Draft. With Week 7 upon us, here are the NFL Draft prospect rankings entering the week.
When evaluating the cornerback spot, it’s easy to put each individual player under a microscope. That means when they have a play made against them, they often will get a little more scrutiny than they should.
However, when the defense plays a lot of snaps, they’re going to be tested a lot. Iman Marshall has been tested plenty this season for the Trojans and he’s had his great moments and his not so great moments.
It can’t be denied that the talent is there and Marshall made some nice plays against Oregon State, including two pass breakups. His natural athletic ability is going to have him in the conversation for a high pick and that’s why he’s on the list.
He follows in the footsteps of several talented USC defensive backs before him and has had some nice performances. It’s easy to focus on the negatives, but his talent typically shines through instead.
At long last, Jaire Alexander finally made his return to the Louisville defense against N.C. State this past week. The cornerback had suffered a leg injury in Week 1 and the program wanted to make sure he was fully healthy before taking the field.
Although the Cardinals got beat on the road in a big conference battle, it was a good sign that cornerback was back on the field. He moved around well and it was clear that he had been itching to get back out there.
It was clear he made an impact on the field and the defense felt noticeably different. While his night doesn’t jump off the page on the stat sheet, it can’t be understated that he carried a presence with him.
As the season progresses and he continues to get more action out there, the play of everyone around him should pick up and so should his numbers. For now, it was a great sign seeing him active in a big game.
