The Red River Rivalry adds another chapter in college football Week 7 as the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns do battle once again.

It’s an annual date to circle on your calendar if you’re a college football fan — the day that the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns renew the Red River Rivalry. These two Big 12 foes have long felt a disdain towards the other, through both highs and lows for each program. Regardless of the peaks and valleys, though, it’s not often that two staples of college football royalty have such an engrained rivalry, which makes their meetings forever special.

That will again be the case in Week 7 of the 2017 college football season as the Sooners and Longhorns will take to the Cotton Bowl to square off. Only adding to the drama natural with the Red River Rivalry is the fact that each of these teams enter the matchup with plenty to prove.

For Oklahoma, they come into this game off a demoralizing loss last week at the hands of Iowa State, one of the worst teams in the conference. They were in prime position to vie for a College Football Playoff spot, but are now up against it. It’s going to take a strong showing to finish the season for them to get back into that position. That can all begin on Saturday in this game.

Then there’s Texas, who everyone was ready to write off once again after they lost to Maryland in their season-opener. However, they’ve gone 3-1 since in Tom Herman’s first year as head coach, with the only loss coming in overtime against USC. They appear to be a team dead-set on proving that Longhorns football is on the ascent, and nothing makes that statement clearer than topping their rivals

Over/Under:Ā 64.5

That’s a pretty darn high Over/Under total, but I’m not sure it’s high enough for this game. Even in a rivalry matchup, this one is going to be all about the offenses on Saturday. With that in mind, let’s dive into the keys for Oklahoma.
