Here’s how the top 10 Group of Five teams in college football grade out heading into week 7.

Midway through the 2017 regular season, the race for the Group of Five’s automatic qualifying spot in the New Year’s Six is shaping up to be a thriller.

Four Group of Five teams were ranked in the latest AP Poll, giving it one of the strongest fields in recent memory. San Diego State and UCF both rolled to easy victories to remain perfect on the season and keep the pressure on South Florida, which is currently the highest-ranked G5 team at No. 18.

Not far behind is Navy, as the Midshipmen survived a tense 48-45 battle with Air Force to crack the top 25 for the first time this season. With a strong 4-1 Memphis team also lurking, the AAC could provide one of the most exciting conference title races in college football.

Beyond those four New Year’s Six contenders, the G5 also has more depth than in year’s past. Mainstays Boise State and Houston both picked up big wins in week six, while Colorado State moved to 4-2 and looks like the biggest challenger to the Aztecs in the Mountain West.

As most top teams rolled to easy victories on Saturday, the Group of Five power rankings didn’t see many major changes, but some huge matchups await in week seven. Here’s how the top 10 G5 teams stack up heading into the weekend.
