When is the NBA’s trade deadline for the 2017-18 season? Find out right here.

The NBA has seen a lot of player movement over the last couple years. Some of it has been through free agency like Kevin Durant leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors, and some of it has been through trades like Kyrie Irving going to the Boston Celtics or Paul George heading to the Thunder. It has all made for quite an interesting landscape in the league today, which should get even better going into this season, especially with LeBron James rumored to be contemplating a move to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 2017-18 trade deadline is Feb. 8 this year, and that will insure no players get shifted during the All-Star break, which made things a bit awkward for DeMarcus Cousins last winter. We should witness a lot of player movement before then, but teams will test out the guys already on their roster before doing anything rash.

The other positive of the earlier deadline is that it will give franchises who make a trade more time to work in their new players before the playoffs. This is a definite improvement over the way things used to be, and we’ll just have to wait and observe if anyone switches conferences right before the All-Star Game.

This is shaping up to be an incredibly entertaining season of basketball. The contenders include the Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Celtics, and Thunder. All but the first two teams have made significant moves this offseason, and it wouldn’t be shocking if one of them made a trade before the deadline.

Feb. 8 is the date when teams will have a last chance to shake up their roster this season, and it should be fun to watch who makes moves when the time is running out.
