The NFL’s commissioner, Roger Goodell does not get a lot of love on Twitter, but one account is nothing but. An account has been discovered linked to Goodell’s wife.

Roger Goodell runs the largest professional sports league in the United States. As commissioner of the NFL he has to make tough decisions that put him under fire. A common place for those scathing remarks is Twitter. The social media platform has become a place for critics of Goodell, amongst others, to lash out, sometimes anonymously.

Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal has investigated an account under the name @forargument on Twitter. The account, which the Wall Street Journal has confirmed, is linked to Goodell’s wife, Jane Skinner Goodell.

Mrs. Goodell confirmed that she was running the account via a statement obtained by the Wall Street Journal.

"“It was a REALLY silly thing to do and done out of frustration—and love.” Mrs. Goodell said Thursday afternoon in a written statement. “As a former media member, I’m always bothered when the coverage doesn’t provide a complete and accurate picture of a story. I’m also a wife and a mom. I have always passionately defended the hard-working guy I love—and I always will. I just may not use Twitter to do so in the future!”"

With all the fire the NFL is facing regarding the national anthem protests, Ms. Goodell’s account has become active to defend her husband. The Twitter account has been used to refute points made disparaging Goodell, mostly from prominent sports websites and news outlets.

The former broadcaster is not afraid to speak out on behalf of her husband. Her anonymous account was discovered by the Wall Street Journal using a social media trail. Mrs. Goodell made the mistake of following her daughter’s school among others linked to the family.

Apparently, the Goodells did not learn from Kevin Durant’s recent saga from the creation of his own troll accounts. Durant was under fire for tweets that were made from his personal account defending himself. He later admitted to owning accounts dedicated to defending himself on Twitter.
