Rivalry games and hotly-contested conference games is on tap for this weekend in college football. Last week dipped its toes in the rivalry waters with Michigan State pulling off a stunning victory in a downpour over Michigan in the Big House. That came after Miami got a last-second touchdown to pull ahead of Florida State and snap their seven-game losing streak to their in-state ACC rivals. This week, will see Texas and Oklahoma play in the latest installment of the Red River Rivalry. A little bit of enthusiasm for the game was lost after Oklahoma was upset at home to Iowa State who was playing without their starting quarterback, Jacob Park.

The Cyclones turned to Joel Lanning to play some quarterback in addition to his duties on defense where he had a key sack late and recovered a fumble. That loss saw the Sooners drop from No. 3 in the polls to No. 12 and on the outside looking in when it comes to a potential College Football Playoff berth. There is plenty of season left to play and they can get back on track in this great rivalry game against a Texas team that’s playing some pretty solid defense as the offense gets its bearings.

That’s just one of the five games that die-hard fans will be watching this weekend.
