It was a hard fought National League Division Series but the Chicago Cubs pulled out a big win in Game 5 over the Washington Nationals. Here’s your updated bracket.

The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals gave their fans a thrilling five-game series in the 2017 National League Division Series. After going back and forth in the first four games, ultimately it was the Cubs who pulled off a 9-8 win over the Nationals in Game 5 to claim the series and advance to the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Game 1 of the NLDS saw the Cubs win with a decisive 3-0 shutout over the Nationals, giving Stephen Strasburg a rare loss. The Nats answered in Game 2 with a 6-3 victory, followed by the Cubs narrowly edging the Nationals 2-1 in Game 3. Washington handed the Cubs a 5-0 shutout in Game 4 to tie the series at 2-2.

Game 5 was a hard-fought victory for the Cubs, who saw the Nationals jumps out to a 4-1 lead early in the game. But it wasn’t long before the Cubs jumped out in front and held the lead for the rest of the game. The Nationals rallied to bring the score within one, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Cubs.

Chicago will head to the Golden State to face the Los Angeles Dodgers at home in Dodgers Stadium on Saturday for what is sure to be a thrilling best-of-seven series. The Cubs and their worn-down bullpen will face a Los Angeles team that has enjoyed four days of rest after beating the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 3 on Oct. 9. That could mean trouble for the Cubs, who blew through their bullpen in their win over the Nationals on Oct. 12. Game 1 of the National League Championship Series takes place on Saturday, October 14 at 8 p.m. ET. The entire NLCS will be broadcast on TBS.
