There was arguably no busier NFL team this offseason than the San Francisco 49ers. New general manager John Lynch and new head coach Kyle Shanahan welcomed a lot of free-agent talent to the Bay Area. Then the former got really busy during the draft in April. Things appeared to be looking up for a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2013 and was coming off a 2-14 showing in ’16.
Five games into the season and the Niners have yet to break into the win column. That hasn’t been the problem for the Washington Redskins. Jay Gruden’s squad is coming off a two-week respite and now host Shanahan and his team. It will be a reunion of sorts for the young sideline leader, who was Washington’s offensive coordinator from 2010-13.
Sounds like there’s plenty of potential drama. More important, can San Francisco end a six-game losing streak dating back to the final week of last season?

The Washington Redskins appear to be a team better than the overall win-loss record may indicate. And that’s why despite a 2-2 ledger, they are 11-point favorites to knock off the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday (via SportsBook Review). The Niners are giving up 24.0 points per game, which is one reason the over/under currently sits at 46.5.
