Here’s how to watch Saturday’s Pac-12 matchup between the No. 8 Washington State Cougars and California Golden Bears online.
The No. 8 Washington State Cougars will look to keep their perfect start to the 2017 season alive when they visit the California Golden Bears on Friday night in Berkeley.
After hanging around the fringes of the top 25 over the past two years, Mike Leach appears to have his first College Football Playoff contender with the Cougars at 6-0. Washington State burst on to the national scene with a stunning 30-27 home win over Pac-12 favorite USC on Sep. 29, adding to a resume that includes victories over Boise State and Oregon.

Quarterback Luke Falk is prolific as ever with 19 touchdown passes to two interceptions, but the Cougars have a lot more to work with in 2017 on both sides of the ball. Running back Jamal Morrow has 467 total yards and seven touchdowns on 60 touchdowns, while defensive end Hercules Mata’afa leads a much-improved unit that is surrendering just 18.5 points per game.
First-year head coach Justin Wilcox looked to have California heading in the right direction during a 3-0 start that included a pair of Power Five wins over North Carolina and Ole Miss. The Golden Bears have lost three straight to open Pac-12 play since and only managed 93 yards of total offense in a 38-7 beatdown last Saturday at Washington.

Running back Patrick Laird has been Cal’s most effective player on offense with 65 carries for 400 yards and four touchdowns. The Golden Bears’ defense has a long way to go before being competitive in the Pac-12, but is making incremental improvements thanks to linebacker Devante Downs, who has a team-high 60 tackles and two interceptions.

Sportsbook Review lists the Cougars as a 12.5-point favorite on the road, which feels a little light given how awful California looked last weekend. The over/under is set at 54 points, far less than we’re used to seeing in the matchup between the two programs in recent years.
