Nick Saban referred to compliments and praise from the media about how good Alabama is is like taking poison, rat poison, but they’re very good so here’s some more rat poison for Saban and his team.
When you’re the No. 1 team in the country, the media is going to have good things to say about you. That’s the case for Alabama who is annually the favorite to win the national championship, breeze through the gauntlet that is the SEC and plug in guys to fill the spots of players who are first round NFL Draft picks.
But you have to be too careful not to butter up the Crimson Tide too much because Nick Saban will think that’s poison. And not just any poison, but rat poison. Saban went on one of his patented mini rants last week after Alabama beat Texas A&M in a game that wasn’t a blowout.
Nick Saban compared media coverage to "rat poison" tonight in case you were wondering what type of mood he was in after the game

Even in a celebratory mood, Saban is rather ornery, but that’s when I love him the most. And I think half the time Saban goes on these “rants” he’s just trying to make sure his team isn’t getting too confident or reading their own press clippings. That’s understandable.
At the same time, it’s understandable for the media to talk and write about all the things that make them great. There are a number of reasons for that. You don’t get to the top spot in college football on luck or coincidence. It takes a lot of work from a lot of people for a lot of time.
So let’s shine the light on all those people who have helped make Alabama the top team in the country and highlight some of the reasons why they’re the favorite to win another national title this year.
It may be rat poison to Saban, but it’s really just some sincere compliments.
