Who are some fantasy football running back sleepers that could help your team for week 6 and beyond?

In this series, I’ll try to help find some fantasy football running back diamonds in the rough to help you for this week and beyond. Some will be better suited as bye week fill-ins, others will be wait-and-see bench stashes, and hopefully some will be stars in the making.

Let’s start with a good bye week filler:

10. Alex Collins, Baltimore

Role: Bye week filler

Slowly but surely, and with a little push from the decline/injury of Terrance West, Collins has increased his role from week to week in the Baltimore backfield. In last week’s win against the Raiders, Collins had 55 yards on 12 carries for a robust 4.6 yards per carry.

He’s averaging an even more impressive 7.1 yards per tote for the season, although rushing the ball is more or less his only skill — he has zero receptions on the year due to Javorius Allen’s role as the passing down back.

Unfortunately, ball security has been an issue for Collins — he lost two fumbles in the first three weeks of the season. With West out for at least this week, however, you can probably count on Collins for around 10 rushes or more.

Collins’ fantasy matchup against the Bears isn’t ideal, as Chicago is right around league average at 3.9 yards per rush allowed this season. But with rookie Mitch Trubisky under center for the Bears and on the heels of Chicago getting gashed by the Vikings for 159 yards on the ground last week, Collins could feast.
