5. Mike Wallace, Baltimore Ravens
Ownership % – Yahoo 50%, ESPN 60%
The Ravens passing attack is certainly not hitting on all cylinders yet. QB Joe Flacco looks like a QB who missed the entirety of the preseason. Still, wide receivers can hold plenty of value even if the whole passing attack isn’t clicking. Mike Wallace fits this profile to a tee. His targets are a little unstable. Two weeks ago, he saw 10. This past week, he only saw three. He went for 55 yards and a TD against the Steelers then galloped for 133 yards versus the Raiders. That was good for 15+ points in a PPR setting each week.
Wallace will be at home this week and draws the Chicago Bears defense that is far worse on the road than at home. Another important factor working for Wallace is this will be QB Mitchell Trubisky’s first ever road start. The Baltimore defense is going to be ready and time of possession should favor the Ravens by a fairly significant margin. The longer the Ravens have the ball, the better chance Wallace has to break that big play. Wallace is the type of receiver that doesn’t need the volume you generally want to chase. One big play from Wallace will pay off and anything on top of that will just be gravy.
