The Green Bay Packers took on the Minnesota Vikings inside U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, and they lost both the game and Aaron Rodgers.

If they lost the game on Sunday to the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers knew they would lose their top spot in the NFC North.

However, nobody in the organization could have predicted that they would lose their MVP quarterback, but that is exactly what happened. Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone after a hit by Anthony Barr in the first quarter and it is now feared he will miss the rest of the season.

With Rodgers on the shelf, the Packers had to turn to Brett Hundley, who played very well during the preseason. The loss of their signal-caller really made the offense sputter, and the Vikings were able to do just enough to keep them at bay throughout the game.

Running back Jerick McKinnon continued his stellar play since taking over for Dalvin Cook, finding the end zone on the ground, and through the air for Minnesota.

The Vikings could be in control the NFC North if the Detroit Lions lose to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Without Sam Bradford under center, the team has had to go with Case Keenum, and he has shown he can win games in the NFL.

The Packers will have to rally around Hundley, but this season just got a heck of a lot more interesting with the Rodgers injury.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings

When Dalvin Cook was lost for the season, many believed that Latavius Murray would assume the top running back spot for the Vikings. However, it has been Jerick McKinnon that has earned the trust of the coaching staff, especially after a solid Monday night effort last week. McKinnon found the end zone twice against the Packers in this one, and looks to be someone who can be useful in the run, and pass game.

2. Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings

With Stefon Diggs out due to an injury, the Minnesota Vikings needed someone to step up in the passing game. That player turned out to be Adam Thielen, who has become such a solid NFL player. Thielen finished with nearly 100 yards on nine catches, and will assume the WR1 slot as long as Diggs is sidelined.

3. Brett Hundley, Green Bay Packers

Brett Hundley probably never figured he would get in the game on Sunday, but he was forced into action with the Rodgers injury. Hundley played like somebody getting their first real taste of the NFL is expected to play, but he did show that he can make some plays down field. He also connected with Davante Adams for his first NFL passing touchdown, and the team will now have to figure out how to win with him under center.

Betting Odds

The line heading into this game was the Vikings getting three points, and after the Packers lost Rodgers, you knew they were going to cover that. The over/under was set at 46.5, and these two teams did not come close to reaching that mark. All lines could be seen at Sportsbook Review throughout the week.
