Ezekiel Elliott granted temporary restraining order, will play Sunday

Ezekiel Elliott was granted a temporary restraining order on Tuesday, meaning he’ll be able to remain on the field for the time being.

The NFL world was waiting on Tuesday to see whether or not a federal judge in New York would grant Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott a temporary restraining order which would keep him on the field for the time being. After a few delays on the day in the proceedings, we finally have an answer to that question.

A short time ago, the ruling came down that Elliott would indeed be granted the temporary restraining order, meaning he’ll be able to take the field on Sunday when the Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers.

So not long after it was announced that the suspension would be upheld, Elliott has once again had the court rule in his favor as this entire saga continues.

Now as you can see in the report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, this isn’t exactly over at all. While Elliott can get back on the field immediately, there’s still a chance that the further proceedings he mentioned could see him have to serve his 6-game suspension if the judge who has been ruling over the case makes that call.

It’s been a wild ride through all of this, as Elliott was supposed to miss the first six games of the season due to a suspension stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident from last spring. The ruling was controversial, as while the NFL took their own actions in suspending the Cowboys running back, he was not convicted of any criminal charges in the case.

So for now, Elliott will be back on the field for Dallas but that all could change in the near future depending on what the proceeding judge has to say when she gets back from vacation.
