Andrew Luck won’t be practicing with the Colts for the time being after suffering a setback in his rehab

Two weeks ago, Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Andrew Luck returned to practice with the team, leaving open the hope that he might see the field again at some point this season. However, on Wednesday, those hopes for seeing the former No. 1 overall pick back out there with his team in the 2017 season took a serious hit.

On Wednesday, Colts general manager Chris Ballard announced that Luck had suffered a setback while practicing with the squad. He had been dealing with some shoulder soreness, and that soreness led to Luck needing to receive a cortisone shot. Obviously not wanting to take any chances, the team will be shutting him down from activities at this point, and there’s no definitive timetable for when he could get back to his rehab.

“(Luck) had some soreness in his shoulder that he’s been dealing with,” Ballard said Wednesday to the media. “Every guy’s different, and the good news is Andrew is very in tune with his body and he’s being honest with what’s going on. That’s what we want — and that’s what we need.”

Ballard was asked whether or not Luck could return this year, but that was a question he couldn’t answer at this time.

Without Luck, the Colts have stumbled their way to a 2-4 record through six games this season, and going forward now they’ll have to keep riding the arm of Jacoby Brissett, who hasn’t been all that effective. The former Patriots quarterback has completed just 59.8 percent of his passes for 1,209 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

So basically, Luck cannot get close enough to 100 percent health and back on the field for this team soon enough.
