Hawks at Mavericks live stream: How to watch online
By John Buhler
The Dallas Mavericks will host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. Here is how to watch this NBA game online via live streaming.
Much of the NBA will be making its 2017-18 NBA season debuts on Wednesday night. Two of those 20 teams doing so will include the Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks.
Tipoff from the American Airlines Center in Dallas will be at 8:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 18. FOX Sports Southeast will carry the Hawks telecast in the Greater Atlanta area. FOX Sports Southwest will carry the Mavericks telecast in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The available live streams for this game can be found on NBA League Pass and on FuboTV.
2017-18 may not be the best season for either the Hawks or the Mavericks. Atlanta is likely to see its Eastern Conference best 10-straight playoff appearances streak come to an end. The Hawks are in a rebuild. Many don’t see this Atlanta team winning even 30 games. When Dennis Schroder is the best player on your team, you’re going to have a bad time.
Dallas does have a bright future potentially in rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. However, this is a team that will likely miss the Western Conference playoffs in what should be the final year of Dirk Nowitzki’s illustrious NBA career.
Both of these teams are well coached with Mike Budenholzer and Rick Carlisle, respectively. So the possibility of either of them overachieving is certainly on the table. That being said, these teams aren’t talented enough to win a playoff series should they even qualify this spring.

Dallas is and should be the home favorite in this game. Atlanta could come out with great energy on Wednesday night. However, the Mavericks have a bit more continuity than Atlanta does. So much of the Hawks roster is new and it will take time for Budenholzer to figure out what exactly he has in this rebuilding team. This could be a game that comes down to the final possession, but look for Dallas to be the team that starts out 1-0 on the year.
