The Orlando Magic will host their Southeast Division rival Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Here is how to watch both team’s 2017-18 NBA season opener online.

The 2017-18 NBA season starts this week. There will be 11 games on the Wednesday night slate across the league. 20 teams will be making their season debuts on Wednesday night, including a pair of Southeast Division rivals in the Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic.

Tipoff from the Amway Center in Orlando will be at 7:00 p.m. ET on Oct. 18. FOX Sports Sun will carry the Heat telecast in the Greater Miami area. FOX Sports Florida will carry the Magic telecast in Central Florida. The available live streams can be found on NBA League Pass and on FuboTV.

Miami is a team that should be good enough to make the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Heat missed out on them by a game last season. Sure, we can blame it on an atrocious start, but it seeing the Brooklyn Nets rest players against the Chicago Bulls on the final game of the season wasn’t great either. Miami should be a contender to get homecourt advantage in the first round if it all goes according to plan for the Heat.

Orlando is still not in a great spot. The Magic lack dynamism as a franchise. They do have a new general manager in John Hammond, formerly of the Milwaukee Bucks. Orlando may not be the worst team in the Eastern Conference, but this feels like a bottom-third team in the conference at the start of the season. Will this be the year Orlando gets out of its own way?

Miami is the better of these two Florida rivals. It’ll be interesting to see what the Magic look like out of the gate with head coach Frank Vogel in his second year with the team. This will be a low-scoring game, dominated by play in the low post. Given that these are division rivals, this could be one of the chippier games on the Wednesday night slate in the NBA.
