The NBA season is barely a few games old and fans have already had enough of the injuries. This time, Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin is the player who could be lost for significant time.
The Brooklyn Nets may not be a contender this season, but this would really be a blow for them right off the bat. Late in the fourth quarter, Jeremy Lin went for a layup and came down awkwardly.

Lin is no stranger to injuries. He’s missed time with a torn meniscus and various other ailments before. The player reaction will sometimes tell you all you need to know about how serious the injury is and Lin seemed pretty shook up. He seemed to just stare at his knee and had a very concerned look on his face.
It would appear that there’s a chance the injury could be as serious as it appeared on the court.

To lose your starting point guard on opening night is a very tough draw for any team, regardless of expectations for the season. You have to feel bad for Lin at this point. He burst onto the scene with the Knicks way back in 2011-12 season and helped New York make the playoffs. That season ended prematurely for Lin with the torn meniscus. He also missed quite a few games last season when his hamstring just never wanted to cooperate.

Lin has had a decent career to this point. Any NBA fan will always remember “Lin-Sanity”. If this is the dreaded torn ACL, it could mark the end of Lin being an effective NBA starter. As for what happens with the Nets now, young gun D’Angeo Russell could be in line for an even bigger role, something he was hoping for in LA.
