Steve Kerr says ‘Fake Klay’ was a perfect metaphor for the Warriors’ conditioning

Steve Kerr says that “Fake Klay” was a perfect metaphor for the Golden State Warrior’s conditioning level on Tuesday night when they gave up a huge lead and lost to the Houston Rockets.
If you caught the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, you may have noticed that there were two Klay Thompsons in the arena. Don’t worry, you weren’t seeing things — there actually were two of them. One was the actual Klay Thompson, and the other was a fan who really looks like Thompson.
The “Fake Klay” was all the buzz during the game, and fans had a blast with it on social media. Even the Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, had a hoot with it. When asked by The Athletic’s Anthony Slater what he thought about the lookalike, Kerr jokingly said that he was a “perfect metaphor” for the team’s conditioning level last night.
“I thought it was a perfect metaphor for our conditioning level,” Kerr said while laughing. “I turned around and was like, ‘Klay, did you have a few extra burgers?’ That was great. I love that guy.”
The “Fake Klay” also received some love from NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke, who interviewed him during halftime of the game.
"“I knew that Klay needed my help, so I’m here,” the man told Burke, who asked if thought Thompson had seen him. “He looked away, because, y’know, he doesn’t want to look at me too much — but he knows I’m his spirit animal.”"
However, despite how much fun “Fake Klay” was, Thompson and the Warriors were not able to get past the Rockets. The Warriors, who were leading the majority of the game, lost their scoring prowess and defensive toughness at the beginning of the fourth quarter and the Rockets took advantage of that. Though much of this had to do with the departure of Draymond Green, who had to leave due to a knee injury.
The Rockets ended up defeating the Warriors 122-121 in a nail-biter.
