LeBron James — Goku

First of all, let’s be clear. No single NBA player captures all of Goku’s awesomeness. He’s basically the biggest badass that’s ever lived. LeBron is probably the only guy that can do such a comparison justice.

From the time Goku lands on earth as a child, he seems destined for greatness. And unsurprisingly, he more than fulfills his potential. Goku becomes the first Super Saiyan in over a thousand years. He beats almost every opponent that he comes up against and he’s the character that all the others strive to keep pace with.

LeBron is the Goku of the NBA, plain and simple. He’s the best player in the league and has been for almost a decade. James is a natural, who took on the moniker of Chosen One as an eighteen year-old kid. LeBron is always pushing to go beyond his own limits, surpass the legends of the game and reach unprecedented heights (#chasingghosts). He’s not unbeatable, but he’s the toughest opponent to overcome.

And just like Goku, he has a habit of playing way below his full power until the big moments when he absolutely has to. And who has been part of more big moments than LeBron? He’s played in eight of the last eleven Finals. That’s insane!!! Goku takes part in most of the defining battles of DB. He’s always there at the end, waiting for the next challenge, even if it sometimes gets the best of him. That’s ultimately what you get with LeBron; not utter invincibility, but consistent dominance. He’s the standard that everyone measures themselves against, just like Goku throughout the course of the DB franchise.
