With the season entering the latter stretches and the hot seat firmly ablaze, these five college football head coaches need a win in Week 8.

The latter stages of the college football season are upon us and that carries plenty of hot seat implications. With Week 8 arriving, programs know what they have and are ready to go about the rest of the season. For some that means a successful endeavor and more.

For others, it means evaluating their head coach and whether or not it is time to make a change. As the season gets later and later, programs are going to bring the axe down on their current head coaches.

Some are out of excuses and their fate has already been sealed. Others can still make a go at it provided they are able to pull out some critical wins. It’s not going to be easy, but these five head coaches need a win this week.

After Auburn was a top-10 team once again, they blew a game at home against LSU. A LSU team that needed a win in the worst way was able to overcome a deficit against the Tigers and take the victory.

For Gus Malzahn, it was another bad loss and it could lead to questions about job security. The Tigers have suffered some tough losses to good opponents this year, but the program demands more than being good.

They should be competing with the elites and this loss really put them behind some of the other elite programs in the conference. Malzahn has heard the whispers before and they aren’t likely to go away. A big win over Auburn will go a long way.
