The 2017-18 NBA season has arrived. There are 11 games on tap for your enjoyment on Saturday night. One of those games will be between Southwest Division rivals in the Dallas Mavericks (0-2) and the Houston Rockets (2-0).
Tipoff from the Toyota Center in Houston will be at 8:00 p.m. ET on Oct. 21. FOX Sports Southwest will carry the Mavericks telecast in the Dallas/Forth Worth area. Dallas has lost both of its games so far this season. The Mavericks fell in their home opener to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, 117-111. Dallas lost its first road game of the year to the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, 93-88. This could be a long year for Mavericks fans, as their team doesn’t look to be very good. At least Dirk Nowitzki is still around and Dennis Smith Jr. has promise at the point.
Houston enters play at 2-0 on the season. While the Rockets have beaten the Golden State Warriors and the Kings en route to 2-0, this team does have concerns about the Chris Paul injury. With Paul, Houston can contend for a Western Conference championship. Without him, this team is just another also-ran playoff team in the West.

Houston laying 12.5 points at home is probably the play here. Dallas will have no answer for Rockets shooting guard James Harden on Saturday night. He will play with great energy in front of the home crowd. Unless he struggles to shoot, Houston should be able to win and cover easily in this ball game.
