Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow offered a passionate pregame speech for Tennessee as the Vols prepare to take on Alabama.

Tim Tebow’s still got it.

Tebow, the current minor league baseball player and SEC Network personality, gave an emotional speech to the media after his Gators lost to Ole Miss in 2008. Now known simply as “The Promise,” Tebow’s words have been transcribed onto a plaque at The Swamp.

Saturday, Tebow offered motivation to a Tennessee Vols team preparing to take on No. 1 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback looked into the cameras during a morning pre-game show and offered some fiery words for Tennessee:

As great of a speech as that was by the former Heisman Trophy winner-turned New York Mets minor leaguer, Tennessee is going to need a lot more inspiration than that to beat the No. 1 team in the country.

The Crimson Tide was anointed a 36-point favorite to beat Tennessee by Las Vegas sports books earlier in the week, which is notable because the Vols had never been a bigger underdog in their long football history. Should the game’s outcome reflect the point spread, head coach Butch Jones – already on the hot seat following the Vols 3-3 start this season – might find himself out of a job.

As the video shows, Tebow’s speech certainly got the onlooking SportsCenter anchors pumped up. Of course, time will tell whether or not Jones can strike a similar chord in the Tennessee locker room before his team takes the field in Tuscaloosa.
