Buccaneers at Bills: Highlights, score and recap
On Sunday at Buffalo, Sean McDermott’s Bills defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What did we learn from this Week 7 battle?
After a lot of discussion and speculation earlier in the week, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter gave the football to third-year quarterback Jameis Winston on Sunday as his team looked to end a two-game skid with a victory at Buffalo.
Of course, the Bills were coming off a little respite and had two weeks to get over a tough loss at Cincinnati the last time they played. New sideline leader Sean McDermott has the team playing solid defense and his pass rush figured to have a big impact in this interconference tilt.
There’s certainly not a lot of familiarity here as the teams met for the first time since 2013 and just the third time in nine seasons. But when it was all said and done, the Bills rallied in the fourth quarter for a wild 30-27 victory over Winston and friends.
Highlights
Three Stars
1. Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills
The underappreciated field general completed passes to nine different players on Sunday, hitting on 20-of-33 passes for 268 yards and one score. Add in 53 yards rushing on six carries. Taylor also led the game-winning field goal drive as the team survived the Bucs, 30-27.
2. LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills
He ran for a pair of scores and totaled 122 yards from scrimmage on 28 touches. McCoy’s second score came with 2:28 to play and the veteran running back had more than half (91) of the Bills’ 173 yards rushing on the afternoon.
3. Jameis Winston, Tamba Bay Buccaneers
He did commit a pair of turnovers in the 30-27 loss. But Winston also shook off that shoulder injury of a week ago to throw for 368 yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort at Orchard Park.
