Carson Palmer injury update Week 7: Cardinals QB will miss 8 weeks
By Josh Hill
The Arizona Cardinals are in London playing the Los Angeles Rams, but all eyes are on Carson Palmer and his injured arm.
Carson Palmer left Sunday’s game in London early, suffering a left arm injury before halftime.
This could have been a case where the Cardinals knew he wouldn’t be back in time for the rest of the half and simply got a head start on resting him through the half. We saw something similar last Sunday night when Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian was hurt and left with just minutes left in the half but returned to start the third quarter.
With Palmer out, Drew Stanton steps in to try and fill his shoes.
If Palmer misses time, it’s a huge blow to a surging Cardinals team. Arizona waxed the Bucs last Sunday and was in a position to bounce back into the NFC West race. Losing Palmer puts a huge hole in that plan and fans can only hope it’s not a fatal one.
UPDATE: Carson Palmer has a broken arm, according to reports, and will miss the next 8 weeks.
Already this season it has looked like the Cardinals championship window has closed, and Palmer missing time would all but ensure that. Previous chances for the Cardinals to make a run at the Super Bowl have been thwarted by injuries to Palmer, so this would seem to be par for the course.
The season isn’t totally lost, however, if it’s the Drew Stanton show. He’s been in Bruce Arians system for a while now, so there’s hope. THat being said, it’s never ideal to have your starting quarterback taken out of action and Arizona is going to have to live through it once again.
