No. 10: Oklahoma State (6-1)

Oklahoma State barely survived Texas, who’s played everyone tough since losing to Maryland. This wasn’t your typical Pokes performance, as they scored just one touchdown and kicked two field goals. It was about the defense, and despite almost losing, this was a great sign for this often criticized and forgotten unit.

No. 9: Oklahoma (6-1)

For a long time, it looked like Oklahoma was headed toward a second loss and a missed chance at the College Football Playoff. Then came a second-half resurgence against Kansas State, scoring 32 points and winning by a touchdown. It keeps the Sooners, who continuously play close games, in the hunt for the postseason, for now.

No. 8: Miami (6-0)

For the second straight week, an ACC team looked in danger of losing their spot in the top 10. First, it was Clemson, who lost to Syracuse. This time Miami struggled against those same Orange but survived 27-19. The Hurricanes remained perfect and will keep their ranking. Is the “U” back?

No. 7: Clemson (6-1)

After shockingly falling to Syracuse, Clemson, like Washington, had a bye week to regroup for their next game. They won’t move up, either, with no one ahead of them dropping a game in Week 8. The only remaining ranked opponent is NC State, while Florida State is a dark horse to be a challenging foe. Oh, and Citadel is still on the schedule. Take that for a nonconference opponent in the second-to-last game of the season.

No. 6: Ohio State (6-1)

No game for Ohio State this week. Unlike teams that were off on Oct. 14, they did not benefit from someone ahead of them losing. Next weekend’s game is a make-or-break matchup for the Buckeyes, however, as they face Penn State. A second loss could spell disaster for their College Football Playoff hopes. Winning will, of course, do wonders for being one of those four teams.
