Multiple coaches in college football entered Week 8 on the hot seat. How did they end up faring?

Week 8 was a mixed result for many college football head coaches on the hot seat. Some ended up with wins that they needed, while others continued to see their team go on a slide that could soon cost them their jobs.

With time running out on the season and the final stretch set to begin, the time for results is now. Some coaches will get their opportunities to keep proving themselves, while it could end up very well being the end for others.

At this point of the season, each program knows exactly what they are working with. For those that are working with a coach on a hot seat, things haven’t turned out as well as they certainly hoped. Here’s how the coaches in Week 8 fared.

Winner – Gus Malzahn

In the loosest sense of the term, the hot seat probably could have been applied after a disappointing loss for Auburn last week. Having worked their way back into the top 10, the program was hoping to make a late push.

Instead, they dropped a game to LSU and the taste of disappointment was back. They washed that taste out of their mouths this week. Auburn had zero problem dispatching Arkansas on the road and looked like a top-10 program in the process.

Showing no signs of that loss affecting them is a big plus for Malzahn. His guys were ready to play this week and it certainly showed. It might have come against a bad Arkansas team, but it was impressive nonetheless.
