Role: Bye week filler with potential for low-end Flex appeal

With Doug Martin back in the fold instead of Jacquizz Rodgers in Tampa, Martin owners aren’t the only beneficiaries. Rodgers was never really suited to be an every-down back, and was really more talented as a pass-catcher.

Meanwhile, Martin almost exclusively does his damage on the ground. With Martin now back in charge, Sims seems to have recaptured his pass-catching magic that made him a flex play in 2015 and 2016.

Sims averaged a little over three receptions per game a year ago, and the same in the year prior. The past two weeks, he tallied five receptions for 31 yards, and four receptions for 45 yards, respectively. In 2015, the last full season that Martin and Sims played together, Sims tallied 51 receptions for 561 yards and four touchdowns (along with 529 yards rushing on change-of-pace carries).

If he can come anywhere close to those numbers, he could be a flex play for the rest of the season. If nothing else, he should get a good dose of work on third downs this week against an above-average Bills defense.
