2. Marlon Mack, Indianapolis

Ownership % — ESPN: 19%; Yahoo!: 40%

Role: Flex now, potential RB2 later

Mack turned heads in week 5 with a 91-yard, one-touchdown performance for the Colts, and made this list in the same spot a week ago. So why is he back again after a lackluster two-carry, 18-yard showing against the Titans last week?

Well, the simple answer is that Robert Turbin, who had been the Colts’ primary third down back this year, is now out for the season. Couple that with the fact that the Colts are now openly expressing that they want Mack getting more carries, and you have a player that seems like a no-brainer to snatch up sooner than later, before he has a breakout performance and has everyone knocking.

Mack has averaged 4.8 yards per carry this season, a far cry from the 3.4 yards per tote that incumbent Frank Gore has amassed. I said it before, and I’ll say it again: sooner or later, Mack will eclipse Gore as the starting running back on this team. Better to get a hold of him now than to have to blow a high waiver priority or free agency dollars on him later.
