Seahawks at Giants: Highlights, score and recap

On Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the New York Giants fell hard to the Seattle Seahawks. What did we learn from this Week 7 tilt?

The defending NFC West champion Seattle Seahawks have had two weeks to prepare for their trip to MetLife Stadium. It’s a place where they have had enormous success since it opened in 2010. The team owns a perfect 4-0 record over not only the New York Giants (2-0) and New York Jets (1-0) but earned a Super Bowl title when they bested the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Speaking of the Giants, Ben McAdoo’s squad comes off an impressive 23-10 Sunday night victory at Denver over the stunned Broncos. The New York ground game was a big factor in the team’s first win of the season. Could Eli Manning and company now make it back-to-back triumphs?

Nope. The Giants’ offense was basically a no-show once again as the Seahawks stifled New York, 24-7, dropping McAdoo’s team’s record to 1-6 as they entered the off week.

Three Stars

1. Russell Wilson

He played arguably his best game of the season, completing 27-of-39 passes for 334 yards and three scores as the Seattle offense rolled up 425 total yards in the convincing win. One third of his completions (9) and one of his three scoring strikes went to wideout Doug Baldwin.

2. K. J. Wright

The unsung defender totaled 11 stops and helped Pete Carroll’s club limited the New York offense to only 177 total yards on Sunday. Wright and the Seattle defense also limited the Giants to 2-of-12 on third down.

3. Paul Richardson

He was targeted twice and caught two passes for 61 yards and a score. His touchdown reception (off a flea flicker) covered a spectacular 38 yards as he wrestled the ball away from Giants’ star safety Landon Collins.

Odds

The well-rested Seahawks were 5.5-point favorites to send the Giants to their sixth loss in seven games. The over/under for this contest sat at 40 and was never really threatened.
